Make Your Marketing Feel More Effortless with Automations, Systems and Tools

I am always looking to figure out how to make things feel more effortless.

One of my mantras is to find joy in everything that I do. If I can’t enjoy what I’m doing, I don’t want to do it.

Of course, that’s not always possible. To function in life as a productive human and to reach my goals - in life and in business - I’ve got to put in some work and do some tasks that I don’t always love.

I may not be able to get out of actually doing the thing, but I can make it slightly easier or effortless so it doesn’t feel like a chore.

One of those is working out.

Even the richest celebrities still have to work out. Now it may be easier with a personal trainer coming to them and the fanciest equipment in their home. But they are still sweating, right?

So I know that if they still have to do it, there is no way for me to get out of actually moving my body in the mornings to reach my personal health and wellness goals of taking care of my body.

But I can make it feel more effortless and more efficient.

That’s the same when it comes to business, and specifically for what we are going to talk about today, your marketing.

We still have to market our brand. We still have to create content, nurture our audience, sell our services.

But we don’t have to struggle through it!

Not with the right automations, systems and tools!

AUTOMATIONS

Automations put TASKS on autopilot.

They take a bit to set up, but once they are up and running, they happen n in the background automatically without you having to do anything.

I have a routine set up with my Amazon Echo that helps me get my mornings started. When the alarm goes off, I say “Alexa, Start My Day.”

Alexa gives us the weather, plays my news briefing from both NPR and Reuters. That’s about 5-10 mins long, which is essentially our snooze.

When the news is over, the magic really happens.

Alexa says “That’s all for your flash briefing. Time to workout Kristin. Kick ass today.”

Then our bedroom lights turn out and a playlist that I’ve curated to get me up and moving plays.

That may feel like a simple thing, turning on the lights and music. But the fact that it happens automatically and I don’t have to get out of bed to do it myself actually improves my morning.

There are so many automations that you can do for your marketing as well.

My favorite ones have to do with your email marketing.

I use ConvertKit to automate almost everything with my email marketing:

A welcome series for your new subscribers.

Or an abandoned cart email for someone that signed up but didn’t purchase your product.

But there are so many others that you can use to take tasks off your list and improve the experience your audience and clients have with your brand.

I love Honeybook to not only organize my clients, handle my proposals, contracts, and invoices to ensure that I get paid but for all the automations. As a client moves through my workflow, Honeybook automatically handles tasks for me, like sending a client an onboarding email or a post-engagement survey.

Not only do automations take a task off your plate, but it’s a set it and forget it kind of thing! That task no longer takes up mental space, allowing you to have more energy for other things!

SYSTEMS and ROUTINES

Your systems and routines put YOU on autopilot.

These are like habits that over time you don't even have to think about anymore. They just become natural.

Every night before I go to bed, I make my pre-workout and set it on my nightstand to drink as soon as I wake up so that it will kick in when I’m ready to workout in about 20 minutes.

I work out in my bedroom, so I have to stash my workout gear away every day. Before I start my workout, I lay out all the gear that I’ll need for that specific day’s plan. It helps me transfer from the yoga mat to the bike and back to the mat with weights quickly so I don’t waste time.

That’s what systems, routines and processes are all about. They help you be more efficient so that you can pack more into your day.

I have only an hour total to dedicate to working out each day. That includes getting dressed, laying out my gear, actually working out, and putting everything away. The more efficient I can be during the workout means that I have more time to stretch or lay in Savasana.

There are so many systems and processes you can put into practice for your marketing.

I talk about batching in this blog post. It’s a great system for batching similar skillsets together. So maybe one day you write your captions for a week and another you create the graphics.

By not switching from skillset to skillset or app to app, you are being more efficient.

Any task or project that you do more than once can be made more effortless with a system or process.

That may be a checklist of every step that you have to do to publish a blog or podcast. By not having to remember every step or go back to an old version to double-check, you are saving time and ensuring that you aren’t forgetting something in the process.

My VIP Bottle Service Bundle is ideal for people who are ready for effortless marketing.

It has all the proven marketing systems and tools to automate, track and plan every step of your marketing strategy.

It’s the secret sauce for taking back your time, energy and focus.

TOOLS

Tools are what you use in your automations, systems and routines to make it all more efficient.

Whether it's an app. a spreadsheet, a website, and even paper and a pen, it's about finding the single best thing that will make a task easier.

My tool when working out is the Hard Core on the Floor calendar.

Every day there are 3 Peloton strength workouts and guidance on what type of ride to take.

I never have to exert any energy figuring out what I'm going to do each day and I know that each day of the week is planned to maximize my efforts.

Before I started using the calendar, I wasn’t maximizing my workouts. Sure I was spending the same time working out, but they weren’t effective. It wasn’t helping me get any closer to reaching my goals.

Any tool that you use should both be effective and efficient. They should help you focus your efforts so you can advance your goals.

That's what the Ultimate Content Calendar does for me with my content planning.

It's an all-in-one idea generator, organizer, content planner, and calendar.

It’s the ultimate tool to make content marketing more effortless.

Setting up automations and tools does not come naturally for everyone! That’s why I include it in both my Craft Your Brand and Market Your Brand services, and offer it as an à la carte service. Whether it’s auditing your current tasks and workflow and recommending the right automations and processes or actually setting them up for you, I can help you make your marketing more effortless.
