The Brand Bar

Being the best-kept secret in your industry is a terrible retirement plan.

  • You are good at the work.
  • Your clients rave about you.
  • Your audience enjoys your content.

Let's make sure they can clearly recognize you, remember what you do, and repeat it to someone else.

The Brand Bar reads the emails, website, and social content your audience actually saw each month, measures how unmistakably yours it sounds, and gives you one focused move to strengthen it.

Behind the bar

This is the tracker that keeps your brand unmistakable.

This is an example of my dashboard.

  • Your signature line

The one message your whole brand should keep pouring. Everything below it gets measured against this line.

  • Your number

How many of the month’s messages could only have come from you. Mine came back 58 of 67.

  • The proof standard

Where the month landed on the scale, from watered down to a strong pour.

And that's just the first sip. Keep scrolling and your dashboard shows you where your message landed, where it slipped, and the one move worth making this month.

What actually happens

Nobody waters down their own brand on purpose.

It happens one ice cube at a time.

A launch sounds a little different from the last one. A collaboration brings someone else’s language into your feed and some of it stays. A batch of posts says all the right things and none of your things. Every piece is good. You would publish every one of them again.

Your audience likes you, but liking you is not the same as hiring you.

People need to hear the same idea from you enough times to believe it, told a different way each time. That’s what makes it stick. When the idea itself keeps shifting, nothing accumulates. They enjoy everything you make for a year and still hire the person whose messaging is on point.

You don’t get hired for being good. You get hired for being obvious.

And if your brand is already sharp, this is how it stays that way.

What arrives

The first week of every month, your brand gets read back to you.

Everything you published last month, counted and graded in one place.

01Your number

How many of this month’s messages could only have come from you.

Your emails, your website, and the social channels you choose get read together as one month and measured against your signature line. Two out of every three should carry your idea. That’s a strong pour, and the number tells you where you landed before your audience feels it.

Two of every three that’s a strong pour

02The month check

Five things your content gets checked against, every single month.

  • Your signature idea carries at least two of every three messages
  • Your main offer gets named at least twice
  • Your audience gets called by name
  • The slop check: nothing you published sounds like AI wrote it
  • Every platform tells the same story
03Your receipts

Your own sentences, poured back with the reason attached.

Seeing why a line counted is what makes the next one land. By month three you are catching it in the draft instead of the dashboard.

Well poured

“Your brand doesn’t go generic overnight. It gets watered down slowly by your daily marketing tasks.”

Why it counted. This is your idea in your words. If it showed up without your name on it, your audience would still know it was yours.

Watered down

“Consistency is key to growing your business.”

Why it missed. It is true, and it is generic. Anyone in your industry could have posted it, and nothing in it points back to you.

04Your big move

The one move that will do the most for your brand this month.

Each month covers a different job your brand has to do, and your Big Move comes straight from that month’s theme, matched to what actually happened in your content. It arrives with an AI prompt already built on your brand context so you can run it in the next ten minutes. Two smaller recommendations ride underneath it.

Every month, you get a little harder to mistake for anyone else.

A year in

One move a month is what actually lifts the number.

Month one tells you where you actually are. By month three you start catching it in the draft instead of the dashboard. By month twelve you have language you know belongs to you, because you watched it hold up across a whole year of content.

Twelve coupe glasses filling higher month by month from January to December

In twelve months, you have proof.

You keep every dashboard. Every number, every month of your own sentences sorted, and every move you made, in one place you can scroll back through any time you want to see what changed.

A year from now, you’re the obvious choice.

See what your last month actually said about you.

Who’s behind the bar

I built this because my own signature message kept getting lost.

Kristin Lawton, founder of District Brand Bar

Kristin Lawton, Chief Brand Mixologist, District Brand Bar

I’m Kristin Lawton, Chief Brand Mixologist at District Brand Bar. I have spent twenty-five years in branding, marketing, and communications, and I still run a solo business the same way you do, creating content and collaborating with other people and promoting work that belongs to somebody else while the message I most want to be known for slides down the list.

Your signature message is the first thing to slip and the last thing you notice.

Your signature line is one sentence that holds all of it:

  • Who you are
  • What you do
  • Why you do it
  • Why someone should work with you
  • What makes you different from everyone else offering something similar

We write yours together when you open your house account, and every month after that, everything you publish gets measured against it.

The first time I ran this on myself it read the first half of July and came back 58 out of 67, which is a good result, and I can also name plenty of months that would have come back a fraction of that without me knowing it at the time.

I built the audit I could not run on myself. Yours runs the first week of every month.

You are putting content out this month either way. The only choice is whether it gets measured.

What your house account includes

  • Your signature line, written with me
  • Setup for your email, your website, and the social channels you choose
  • My personal review of your first dashboard
  • Twelve monthly dashboards
  • Your number, every month
  • Well Poured and Watered Down receipts pulled from your own sentences
  • One Big Move a month, with an AI prompt already built on your brand context
  • Two smaller recommendations underneath it
  • Monthly office hours, one hour with me, drop in with any question
  • Your full year kept in one place

This one’s for you if

  • You have been in business long enough to know your direction
  • You put content out through email, your website, or social every month
  • You want one clear priority a month instead of another list
  • You want brand guidance without another standing meeting to sit through

The strongest house accounts belong to businesses already putting content out. Once your message is moving through the world every month, there’s something real to measure.

You keep creating. I’ll keep the tab.

Before you open a tab

Questions people ask before they pull up a stool.

Do you review every dashboard?

I review your first one personally, to make sure your channels are being read correctly and your signature line is working as the benchmark. After that your dashboards are produced through the Brand Bar system using my Signature Brand Framework, your signature line, and the brand context we set up together.

What if I don’t have a signature line yet?

Most people don’t, and that’s the first thing we do. I’ll read your brand, find the strongest starting point, and we’ll work it back and forth until it says the thing you actually want to be known for.

When does my first dashboard arrive?

Within a few days of finishing your setup form. Your website and social channels get read for the month behind you, so your first dashboard has real content in it right away. Your email gets added the following month.

How much do I need to publish for this to work?

A few emails and social posts a month is enough to see a pattern. If you publish less often, every message carries more weight, which makes the reading more useful rather than less.

What happens at the end of the twelve months?

Your house account runs for twelve months, so there’s no ongoing subscription running in the background. When your year is up, you’ll have a full year of evidence and the option to continue.
