How to Repurpose Your Marketing Content

And 10 Prompts to use with Chat GPT or Copy.AI to easily repurpose

Let’s face it, as an entrepreneur or small business owner, consistently having to create new content can be a daunting and time-consuming task.

With the constant need to produce fresh content, it can be challenging to come up with new and innovative ideas. However, the reality is that only a small portion of your audience will see your content regularly.

In fact, only about 10% of your audience sees your content on a regular basis. Hopefully, more for email, but likely even less on social media. Additionally, it takes 7 times for someone to hear a brand’s message before they take action.

It makes repurposing your existing content a no-brainer. It’s a great way to reach a wider audience while saving time and resources.

What Does It Mean to Repurpose Content?

Repurposing content involves taking existing content and transforming it into something new. This could be as simple as resharing the exact same post from six months ago as-is to the same audience. This is actually one of my favorite ways to save time and show up consistently to my audience! I’ll take an evergreen post (one that isn’t timely but can work any day of the week and well into the future) that has my core message or promotes my services and simply share it every 4-6 months.

You can take it a step further by changing the form of the content, like turning a blog post into a social media graphic or creating a video series from a podcast. This does take a little more time, but it allows you to give it a fresh spin and present it to a new audience, extending the life of your content and maximizing its value.

Repurposing content can help you to establish your brand identity and voice. By revisiting your existing content, you can refine your messaging and strengthen your brand voice across all channels. As your business grows and evolves, your content should also evolve to reflect your current brand identity. Repurposing your existing content can be a cost-effective way to achieve this while maintaining consistency in your messaging.

How to Efficiently Repurpose Content

The best part about reusing your existing content is the amount of time and brain space it will save you! You’ve already spent the time to develop the concept around this content. The hard work is over. Now it’s simply about making a few tweaks and scheduling your content!

If you use a content scheduler, like Later.com, put it to work! When you publish a piece of evergreen content, immediately schedule it again for 6 months to one year ahead. Then every six months, spend a half day going back through your previous content and seeing what you might want to reshare or repurpose. I’ve been able to create two social media posts a week using this process. That leaves me with only 1-2 posts I need to create for the week.

And then when you do want to mix up the content, lean on artificial intelligence, AI! I think of Copy.ai and Chat GPT as my personal marketing assistants. With a prompt, I can delegate a lot of my marketing tasks to them. With their help, you can repurpose your content quickly and easily. Whether you want to turn a social media post into a blog post or create quote graphics for your Instagram, AI can help you do it all.
